3-Day Mekong Delta & Tra Su Sanctuary Tour

Cruises & Water Tours

Get to know the lush scenery of rural Vietnam with 3 days in the Mekong Delta. Visit idyllic fishing villages and fruit plantations, float down the river on a traditional sampan, browse the wares at a bustling floating market, and see some of the wildlife that makes this region its home.

Day 1:
Ride out from Ho Chi Minh City and enjoy a scenic journey past green rice fields to the city of My Tho. After a visit to the famed Vinh Trang Temple, take a leisurely boat ride along the river to see stilt houses, fruit plantations, and fishing villages along the shore. Stop for lunch at Tortoise Island, in an idyllic setting amid an orchard garden.

In the more secluded setting of An Khanh, you can take a hand-rowed sampan on a cruise along natural canals under the shade of water coconut trees. Enjoy seasonal fruit and honey tea and listen as locals perform a selection of southern Vietnamese folk music. Visit a family business, taste local coconut candy, and observe the pastoral life before you head to the city of Can Tho for your overnight stay.

Day 2:
A leisurely boat trip takes you to the picturesque tributaries of the Bassac River, after which you can explore the floating markets of Cai Rang. See how Vietnamese vermicelli soup is made, meet the friendly local people, and see a monkey bridge built with only a single stem of bamboo.

After lunch, head to the city of Chau Doc and get a look at the wild birds in the Tra Su Sanctuary. Cruise with small boats to explore the canals that lead deep into the forest, and keep an eye out for storks, cranes, and other tropical birds. After you return to town, check in to your hotel for the overnight stay in Chau Doc.

Day 3:
After breakfast, take a boat trip to a floating village, visit a fish farm, and see how the Mekong Delta's people raise fish in their floating houses. Visit a traditional weaving village inhabited by local Cham people, stop at a local mosque, and have lunch at Can Tho on your way back to Ho Chi Minh City.
