Day 1: Cuc Phuong National Park & Primate Rescue Center
Catch a ride from your hotel and head into the forest-blanketed hills of Cuc Phuong National Park. Stop off at a conservation center dedicated to rehabilitating turtles, and swing by the a primate rescue center to check out endangered species including chattering gibbons, gold-furred langurs, and graceful lorises.
Tuck into a lunch at a restaurant in the park, look for stone tools in a cave known to contain artifacts from thousands of years ago, and take a hike to the site of a 1,000-year-old tree before you head to your hotel and settle in for the evening.
Day 2: Tam Coc Cruise & Visit to Ancient Capital
After breakfast, ride to Tam Loc for a breathtaking boat ride on the Ngo Dong River. Cruise past limestone karsts studded with deep caves and keep your eyes peeled for tiny temples that may hide inside.
Enjoy lunch near the waterfront before you drive to Hoa Lu, the site of Vietnam's capital during 10th and 11th centuries. Find out why the capital was moved to present day Hanoi, check out the former capital's temples and palace, and then head back to Hanoi to close out your adventure.
