Beaches in Nha Trang

Nha Trang beaches are spread out around the beach resort city, offering a myriad of sightseeing and recreational activities for visitors looking to soak up the sun during their holiday. Often called the Riviera of the South China Sea, Nha Trang boasts a six-kilometre stretch of beautiful coastline with a wide array of dining and accommodation options set along the white sandy beaches.

No two beaches are the same in Nha Trang, ranging from the bustling Tran Phu Beach for travellers who want to be in the centre of all the action to the more remote Bai Dai Beach that is great for when you want to escape the often overcrowded city. Some of these locales may be a long drive away from Nha Trang City, but the tranquil scenery of the coastline makes it well worth trip.

Tran Phu Beach

Tran Phu Beach is easy to walk to from almost anywhere in Nha Trang City, making it the most popular beach in Nha Trang. It hosts the iconic Tran Phu Street, which is a beautiful seaside promenade with plenty of luxury and mid-range beachfront resorts, hostels, souvenir shops, museums, and seafood restaurants.

Nightlife around Tran Phu Beach is also popular – highly recommended bars include The Sailing Club, ZIMA, and Skylight Skydeck & Rooftop Beach Club. Alternatively, there’s a wide array of activities such as surfing, snorkelling, bicycle tours, spa treatments, meditation and yoga in Tran Phu Beach.

Priced at VND 35,000 per day, you can also lounge on beach beds and deck chairs along the beachside. Due to its popularity, there is a noticeable amount of trash such as empty bottles and cigarette stubs in places.

Hon Chong Beach

Separated only by a headland, Hon Chong is just north of Tran Plu Beach in Nha Trang. It’s a five-minute drive from the iconic Po Nagar Cham Towers, where you’re greeted with a quiet beach area and formation of piled rocks that stretch out towards the sea. The beach is free to enter, but you’re required to pay an entrance fee of VND 22,000 to climb the rocks. However, it’s well worth the money and effort as you’ll be greeted with a panoramic view of neighbouring islets and the crescent-shaped Nha Trang Beach. The atmosphere here is very tranquil as well, with several coffee shops and seafood eateries scattered along the beach. Approximately 300m south of Hon Chong is Hon Do (Red Island), which has a Buddhist temple on a hilltop while the northeast hosts Hon Rua (Tortoise Island).

Bai Dai Beach

Situated approximately 28 kilometres south of Tran Phu Beach, Bai Dai Beach makes a popular day trip amongst tourists due to its secluded and hippy-like atmosphere. There are also several seafood restaurants in Bai Dai Beach, though the most popular one is called The Shack Vietnam. The charming hut-like establishment is decorated with Bob Marley posters and wooden furnishing while the kitchen serves up western favourites, fruit juices, and beers all day.

Doc Let Beach

Doc Let Beach is situated 45km north of Nha Trang, offering mid-range and budget accommodation for backpackers looking to relax by the beach. Popular hotels here include Hoang Khang Doc Let Hotel & Beach, White Sand Doclet Resort & Spa, and GM Doc Let Beach Resort & Spa.

Featuring plenty of palm trees and fishing boats docked offshore, Doc Let is most popular for its salt fields where you can photograph the white salt mountains and locals carrying heavy baskets across the fields. The sand is soft and fine, squeaking under foot as you walk, and with few others on the beach, Doc Let is the perfect escape.
