Getting around in Da Nang is fairly convenient compared to other cities in Vietnam thanks to its spacious roadways, bridges, and walkways as well as budget-friendly public transportation. Known as the tourist capital of South Central Vietnam, there are plenty of sightseeing, dining, and shopping opportunities available within the city centre.
However, no trip to Da Nang is complete without making your way to its pristine beaches, breath-taking mountains, war memorial sites and ancient pagodas, all of which require the use of motorised vehicles such as motorcycle taxis, buses, and private cars. With that being said, we’ve compiled a helpful guide on Da Nang transportation for a hassle-free vacation.
Taxis are available everywhere in Da Nang, particularly nearby hotels, tourist attractions, and shopping malls. While taxi scams are quite rare in Da Nang, the most popular (and reliable) taxi companies are Mai Linh (+84 511 356 5656), Taxi Xanh (+84 511 368 6868), and Vinasun (+84 511 368 6868). All taxis are fitted with metres, with the starting price at VND 12,000 and VND 15,000 for every subsequent kilometre. The drivers also have a fairly good command of English, and there’s also a helpline number stated on the passenger door should you require further assistance.
Travelling by motorcycle taxi or xe om is a good way of exploring outside the city centre on a budget. You can easily find several parked at the tourist-friendly Bach Dang and Tran Phu Street as well as popular attractions such as My Khe Beach, and Marble Mountains. Do note that the fare is based on your bargaining skills, so make sure you have finalised the price with your driver before hopping on a motorcycle taxi. To be on the safe side, a two-kilometre xe om ride should cost between VND 10,000 and VND 15,000.
Bicycle and Rafting Tour
Renting a bicycle is a good option if you prefer getting around Da Nang according to your own pace. Da Nang is considerably less congested compared to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, so you’ll be able to cycle without enduring busy traffic and pollution. If you’re staying close by My Khe Beach, travelling by bicycle is the best way to enjoy the seaside view and stop by its many seafood eateries. Depending on the bicycle model, daily rental fees can go for as low as USD2 for standard models and up to USD15 for mountain bikes.
